Federica Righi

Strategy Director

Federica began her career as a Project Officer at the World Health Organization (OMS) from 2006 to 2008, managing a European-funded project aimed at establishing a framework for Emergency Medical Services across the 27 EU countries. Between 2009 to 2010, she collaborated with Ongawa – Engineers without Borders, coordinating an international development project focused on water, hygiene, and sanitation in over 10 remote villages in Tanzania.

Between 2012 and 2014, Federica worked at Málaga City Council, overseeing EU-funded projects that promoted the empowerment of civil society organisations for a more inclusive and participatory ecosystem. Following the completion of her executive MBA in 2015, she spent three years (2016-2018) as a Research Associate at the IESE Center for Research in Healthcare Innovation Management (CRHIM), where she contributed to exploitation and sustainability strategies in EU-funded research and innovation projects, while also coordinating an EIT Health strategic initiative aimed at empowering women leadership in health innovation.

Her most recent professional experience has been at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), where she has held various roles since 2019, including Head of Strategic Projects and ultimately Director of the Competitive Research Office.
