Teamit joins multistakeholder collaborations across Europe to mark Rare Disease Day 2026

Teamit Rare Disease Day 2026

Teamit is participating in Rare Disease Day, a worldwide movement aiming to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the estimated 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease. Teamit strives to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment for rare diseases across Europe as a partner in ERDERA – The European Rare Disease Research Alliance, RealiseD – innovating clinical trials for ultra-rare diseases and REMEDi4ALL -The European Platform for Medicines Repurposing.

Rare Disease Day 2026: a global initiative

Rare Disease Day (RDD), originally developed by patient organisation EURORDIS-Rare disease Europe in 2008, is marked annually on 29 February (although a rare date), serving to highlight the worldwide significance of rare diseases. The 2026 campaign unites over 600 events in over 100 countries to showcase rare diseases as a test of health equity, innovation and cross-border solidarity.

The 2026 theme “More Than You Can Imagine”, speaks to the resilience of those living with rare diseases: in Europe, journey to diagnosis on average is This year’s campaign is even more significant as the European rare diseases community awaits the release of the EU.

Teamit works with European leaders in Rare Disease research to drive forward progress

Teamit is a proud member of the European rare disease community through its participation in three multistakeholder collaborations: ERDERA, RealiseD and REMEDi4ALL.

The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) is a European partnership uniting over 170 public and private organisations across 37 countries around a single goal: turning cutting-edge science into tangible benefits for the thirty million Europeans living with a rare disease. Teamit, leading ERDERA’s communications efforts and playing a key role in project management, is supporting ERDERA’s extensive coverage of Rare Disease Day across digital platforms as well as key events for the rare disease ecosystem in Europe.

RealiseD is set to generate a novel comprehensive methodological and operational approach to design and conduct clinical trials for (ultra) rare diseases. Teamit’s role in management and communication strives to ensure RealiseD meets its ambition and aims to strengthen visibility of RealiseD within the rare disease community. To mark Rare Disease Day, RealiseD is launching a patient-centred campaign, reflecting on how clinical trials must be relevant to, and co-created by, those living with rare diseases. Through interviews with patient advocates and articles in leading media outlets, RealiseD shares powerful stories and a collective message of unity, empathy and determination from those who know the journey best. The full campaign can be explored here.

REMEDi4ALL aims to build a sustainable European innovation platform to enhance the repurposing of medicines for all. Drug repurposing, finding new uses for existing medicines, can offer a viable alternative to those with rare diseases where there is often less interest in traditional drug development. Teamit’s lead role in project management and communication has contributed to the successful progression of REMEDi4ALL over the last 3+ years. This RDD, REMEDi4ALL’s campaign focuses on drug repurposing success stories for rare diseases, highlighting the crucial role of the rare disease community in using existing medicines to find novel treatments.

Through its involvement in multistakeholder collaborations ERDERA, RealiseD, and REMEDi4ALL, Teamit is contributing to advancements in research, clinical trials, and drug repurposing for rare diseases, highlighting the of the rare disease community and underscoring the importance of innovation and health equity across Europe.
