Teamit joined colleagues from VAC4EU, public health institutions, regulatory bodies, patient organisations, academia, and industry in Brussels on 5 November to celebrate five years of the Vaccine Monitoring Collaboration for Europe, the sustainability solution for IHI project ADVANCE. The anniversary event showcased the strength of the network and its shared commitment to generating high-quality, actionable evidence for vaccine decision-making.
Highlights from the Programme
The day opened with remarks from Miriam Sturkenboom, setting the tone for a forward-looking programme. Heidi Larson’s keynote provided a compelling overview of vaccine confidence in Europe, highlighting shifting public perceptions and the need for continuous engagement.
The morning panel featuring Rosa Gini (VAC4EU), Peter Arlett (EMA), Heather Rubino (Pfizer), Susana Perez-Gutthann (RTI Health solutions), Emilie Karafillakis (Vaccine Confidence Project), Felipe Villalobos Martínez (IDIAPJGol) revisited lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring core priorities including investing in robust evidence generation, engaging diverse stakeholders early, and communicating findings with clarity and impact.
In the afternoon, discussion turned to the future of real-world evidence (RWE). Panel experts Miriam Sturkenboom (VAC4EU), Rebecca Chandler (CEPI), Niklas Blomberg (IHI), Charlotte Verhnes (Vaccines Europe), Maria Dutarte (EUPATI), Laura Cornelissen (Sciensano), Jean Michel Dogné (UNamur) emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration, methodological rigour, and the development of long-term frameworks that can support preparedness for future public health challenges.

Teamit CEO Eva Molero delivered concluding remarks alongside Peter Arlett (EMA), reinforcing the importance of multistakeholder collaboration in pharmacovigilance, and the role networks like VAC4EU play in delivering timely, high-quality evidence for public health and regulatory decision-making.
Eva Molero shared her own reflections including the value of connecting with partners across the network, the collective commitment shown by VAC4EU to strengthening European RWE ecosystems and the importance of coordination and governance to ensure readiness for future vaccine monitoring needs.
