Overview
Vision:
To ensure inclusivity, ERDERA will create a comprehensive multi-stakeholder ecosystem focused on rare disease (RD) research. This will involve supporting patient-centered research, developing new treatments and diagnostic methods, leveraging health and research data, and leading the digital transformation in RD research and innovation (R&I).
ERDERA will also enhance the European Research Area on RD by coordinating and aligning national and regional research strategies, fostering public-private collaborations, and conducting research activities across the R&I value chain. This will expedite the translation of knowledge into patient impact, maximizing the EU’s innovation potential in RD.
This vision will be achieved through a tripartite mission to be completed by the end of ERDERA.
Mission:
ERDERA aims to unify and share research and innovation (R&I) knowledge, resources, and services from across Europe, ensuring that every rare disease (RD) research project benefits from cross-disciplinary expertise, goal-oriented planning, and efficient execution. By enhancing the generation and sharing of FAIR-compliant, regulatory-quality data from diverse sources, ERDERA will enable every consenting RD patient to be findable and enrolled in suitable clinical studies, accelerating advances in prevention, diagnosis, disease knowledge, and treatment. Furthermore, by significantly increasing investment in RD research and aligning regional, national, and European R&I priorities, ERDERA seeks to make Europe a global leader in rare disease research, fostering innovation, job creation, and improving EU competitiveness in R&I.
