Teamit has been featured in the European Commission’s publication “Success stories from the research management community – A catalogue of best practices and achievements”. The publication highlights the role of organisations like Teamit in advancing impactful health research through strategic, high-quality research management.
Under the title “Forging trust in public–private health research collaboration through solid management and governance structures”, the success story spotlights Teamit as an exemplary case in strengthening collaboration in EU-funded public-private partnerships—involving researchers, public health bodies, patient advocacy groups or industry—to help translate research into impactful uptake and utilisation of results.
This feature highlights Teamit’s role in two major projects —RESCEU (2017-2021) and PROMISE (2021-2024) — both focused on advancing research on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a significantly under-investigated area at the time. Indeed, a decade ago, knowledge about medical, economic and social burden of RSV was minimal and there were no available immunisations or effective treatments. Collaboration in this field between academia, public health agencies, and the pharmaceutical industry remained limited. This posed a barrier to progress in tackling a critical global health issue.
To address this gap in RSV, the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) funded RESCEU and PROMISE with the aim of accelerating research, fostering stronger, cross-sector collaboration and paving the way for the introduction of future immunisation solutions. However, aligning the priorities and workflows of public and private stakeholders introduced a level of complexity that required targeted, expert governance management.
This is where Teamit played a central role in helping design and implement structured governance models that ensured balanced representation of all involved sectors. To support effective collaboration, we introduced robust coordination processes and structures —designed to promote inclusive, transparent, and efficient decision-making.
Additionally, a comprehensive review framework for publications and project deliverables was established to safeguard scientific integrity and transparency. Risk management structures were also put in place to support continuity during periods of disruption, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that the projects remained on track despite external pressures.

Teamit’s inclusion in this European Commission catalogue of success stories underscores the critical role of research management expertise in enabling the translation of scientific results into real-world impact. It highlights the growing recognition that delivering meaningful outcomes from research requires more than scientific excellence alone—it also demands dedicated structures, sound governance, and strategic coordination.
